This is a big deal, but not for the most essential reason. This judge merely has a difference of opinion as to the government definition of "invasion" such that, under her interpretation, he cannot "invoke the magic" of the Alien Enemies Act. The more precise view would be that the act, as a statute, does not comport with the US Constitution. Not only is immigration not a federal power, the Alien Enemies Act clearly breaches Article Four, Section Four, which only allows federal militia to enter a state if the legislature of the state or the governor (if the legislature is out of session) INVITE/REQUEST such action. It's so manifestly clear that it's laughable to see so many people carefully avoid the obvious. Here's the

The Trump Admin has agreed to a settlement w the family of Ashli Babbit. There are many logical and philosophical facets to this tragedy and line the government spews about the Capitol supposedly being the "people's house" - but one thing that is left hanging is that the man who killed her will face no legal consequences. Her death is one of the most glaring examples of the battle for political control that also embraces the Tragedy of the Commons - how can it be the "people's house" while allowing universal and equal use for all the people who have to pay?

Greg Abbot hours ago signed the nation's biggest "voucher" program in history. And while some conservatives might celebrate a possible shakeup of the union-dominated public school system, seeing students escape to private schools (and new private schools popping up) there are a lot of downsides when looking at the move on its own. Morally, it's unacceptable to take money from anyone in order to give it to parents as a way to let them pay for their child's education. But, practically, the state money might (usually this is the case) come with an increasing number of strings and mandates, and, of course, the money put into the demand side for private schools will see higher prices for the school offerings. The only answer is complete dislocation between state and education, between collectivized money aggregation and private industry.

What a surprise! Another negative result of Trump's insane tariff tyranny. Once their exemption ended, Temu said, "No more, thank u."
Temu halts China shipments to US as Trump ends tariff loophole - Axios
Temu has stopped shipping products from China to the U.S. ahead of an executive order from President Trump that went into effect on Friday.. No kidding. After all the turmoil the US has caused there, after all the money and weapons and death the US makes its "mineral deal" to continue to tie the US taxpayer to Ukraine, then doesn't acknowledge that by continuing to tie us to Ukraine, they perpetuate the fight. The Russian government is going to take more land, and, eventually, the Ukrainian government will have to sue for peace, losing even more than it might lose now.

Here's something to consider. Perhaps it's just as uncool to use tax money to send intimidating letters to Wikipedia as it might be for Wikipedia to push leftist bias without acknowledging it? I don't have to visit Wikileaks if I don't want to, and I should be able to sue them for defamation if one of their chosen editors lies about me or allows people to post lies about me.
After Acting U.S. Attorney for D.C. Ed Martin sent a letter last week to the foundation that owns Wikipedia raising questions regarding the online encyclopedia’s political bias, editors made repeated attacks against Martin on the site. Editors also attacked Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger and Elon Musk due to their criticism of the site’s left-wing bias.

Notice how this site repeatedly uses the term "constitutional emergency powers" - there is no such thing. This comes after the dumb statements of "DC Draino" and Steve Bannon recommending Trump ought to "suspend habeas corpus". DC Draino cited Article One, Section Nine of their so-called rules, the Constitution. But Article One pertains to the legislative branch. DC Draino is a lawyer. To get that so profoundly wrong is amazing. Here’s more, as Trump appears to have shown similar and equal ignorance of the rules by which he is supposed to operate.

Bernie Sanders introduced an amendment to the Senate version of the “Antisemitism Awareness Act” to express that “criticism of the state of Israel is not antisemitism.” This likely will either be removed later, or it will kill the bill. The vast bulk in DC want to allow “civil rights violations” punishments to be smacked onto anyone who criticizes the state of Israel, and this holds them back. But more important, why is the legislative branch of the US government defining “antisemitism” and potentially punishing it at all? What happened to their First Amendment? Maine State Rep Laurel Libby was just in NH, at a Free State Project event, talking about this, and it's a fascinating case.
