This is the east coast equivalent of a Thursday ruling from a federal district court in CA. The Trump targeting of Harvard, going beyond threatening them with withdrawal of federal money, and beyond the withdrawal of tax-exempt status, sees the Trump Admin saying they would revoke foreign student visas for students going to Harvard - but a judge juuust sided with the CA court on that issue. Not only was the so-called "warrant" the feds presented not a real warrant but an "administrative" warrant from ICE, the feds should not have been there, because, of course, immigration policing is not a federal power and the state government didn't invite the feds in. As Judge Napolitano noted last week, Judge Dugan recognized that the warrant was not issued by a real judge, so she told the feds to buzz off. This is going to be controversial... Trump launches ‘total and complete reform’ of nuclear industry, slashes regulations | The Post Millennial | thepostmillennial.com
President Donald Trump on Friday signed multiple executive orders in order to expedite the process and streamline the development of nuclear energy in the United States. Appearing with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum as well as nuclear energy company heads, Trump signed four orders that aimed at slashing regulation in the nuclear industry.

It looks like a Trump announcement that he was going to freeze funding to PP has led to numerous PP slaughterhouses in Minnesota closing. This, according to their own statements. The reference to the still-in-the-Senate "Big Beautiful Bill" is not actually relevant here, since the PP action comes as a result of other actions by Trump. Interesting to see this, and it is reminiscent of the first Trump Admin when he banned federal agencies from recommending to pregnant women how to reach abortion clinics. Abortion clinics in Iowa, Minnesota set to close as Trump admin targets funding for Planned Parenthood | The Post Millennial | thepostmillennial.com
Eight abortion clinics run by Planned Parenthood’s Northern Central States region are slated to shut down across Minnesota as well as Iowa as the Trump administration is targeting funds going to Planned Parenthood. The announcement from Planned Parenthood comes after the "One Big, Beautiful Bill" passed in the House, which said it would defund the abortion provider, according to Axios.

Of course, on a larger-scale view, no federal money is supposed to go to any aspect of "parenting" — be it welfare for pregnant women, recommendations on how to reach PP, funding for PP, or anything else.

As we can see with this new move from James Comer, many GOP-ers in DC and elsewhere are not dropping the matter of Joe Biden's handlers when he clearly was incapable of being President. Comer wants to depose former Biden staffers. It's likely that they either will plead the 5th, or claim that their information is too "sensitive" to allow Comer to hear it. The Climate Cult is at it, again! This time, they are claiming that "CLIMATE CHANGE" could bring malaria to England. And, though none of the regulations is constitutional in the first place, and the "regulatory agencies" also are unconstitutional and upend the concept of person-on-person tort law going back to before the Magna Carta, these two paragraphs offer a lot of promise!
"Of course, Congress previously gave itself the power to review and block major regulation retroactively for a limited period of time through the Congressional Review Act (CRA) of 1996, but it has rarely used that power, and when it has, its efforts have most often been blocked by a presidential veto. The CRA allowed the House and the Senate to pass resolutions of disapproval to block major regulations. Despite tens of thousands of regulations being enacted in nearly 30 years since the CRA passed, Congress has used it successfully to overturn rules only 20 times.
The superiority of the REINS Act to the CRA is clear: under the CRA, a regulation becomes law by default unless Congress moves to disapprove it. The REINS Act would reverse this, canceling any major regulation Congress does not explicitly approve. In addition, the president would not be authorized to ignore the will of Congress and its interpretation of what the law it has written demands, because no veto is available. The rule doesn’t become law unless Congress approves."

So, the story today is that Trump is changing the Biden policy that blocked Nippon from buying US Steel. That's good, except it will be under some kind of strange federal oversight, so it's got a fascist tinge to it. ‘Made In America’: Trump Says U.S. Steel Will Remain In Pittsburgh, Partner With Japanese Company
President Donald Trump said on Friday that U.S. Steel will partner with the Japanese company Nippon Steel, and remain headquartered in Pittsburgh. The partnership comes after Trump ordered a review of the possible sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon Steel in April. www.dailywire.com
BUT, what is not mentioned is that Trump's 25% steel tariff from Administration ONE was a disaster! The steel tariffs (25% on steel imports) and aluminum tariffs (10%) affected approximately $380 billion worth of trade, translating to a tax increase of nearly $80 billion. Specific estimates of the aggregate cost to the U.S. economy vary across studies, but key findings include this from the WaPo: The tariffs led to higher prices for steel, which increased costs for consumers and downstream industries (e.g., automotive, construction, and appliance manufacturing). A 2019 study by the Peterson Institute for International Economics estimated that each job saved or created in the steel industry cost U.S. consumers and businesses approximately $900,000 annually, more than 13 times the typical steelworker’s salary. For context, the tariffs were associated with saving or creating about 12,700 jobs in steel and aluminum industries, implying a total cost of roughly $11.4 billion per year for these jobs alone (12,700 jobs × $900,000).
And... a 2018 analysis found that the $2.8 billion production increase in steel and aluminum industries was offset by a $3.4 billion production decrease in downstream industries due to higher input costs. This net loss of $600 million in economic output highlights the tariffs’ negative ripple effects. Additionally, a 2019 Federal Reserve study estimated that the tariffs led to a net loss of 75,000 manufacturing jobs in downstream industries, further amplifying economic costs.
Trump's tariffs also harmed domestic steel makers in ways beyond the decrease in market interest downstream. The steel industry needs items that its plants often import, and Trump hiked those costs, harming their bottom lines.
So, now, after the disaster of Trump One tariffs, with US steel hammered by the earlier tariff ripples and the lockdowns of 2020-2021, we see some changes for a corporation already hobbled by US reg-a-lations.

Our pal, Michael Mann, already has shown his utter contempt for courts, defying judicial requests for his raw data in the midst of lawsuits (the suit he essentially forfeited to Tim Ball in Canada a few years back comes to mind, )

But that is not the new matter! The new matters for Mann are two-fold. FIRST, he NOW says that if Trump defies a court (a-la what Mann did in the Ball case) someone should use the "Second Amendment" on Trump. Class act. UPenn Climate Scientist Calls for 'Second Amendment' to Be Used Against Trump.

This is a big one, but, based on the OK State constitution, the SCOTUS made the right decision: Supreme Court rules against religious school seeking public funds in Oklahoma | Fox News
Supreme Court hears arguments over publicly funded Catholic charter school
In a split decision, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to uphold a lower court decision that held a religious charter school cannot obtain public funding from the state of Oklahoma.

I got to write about this Friday at my Substack:
Here is Amy Howe’s (of SCOTUSBlog) first paragraph, which encapsulates the activity, but uses the term “law” to describe the SCOTUS opinion. Such a word does not apply. The judicial branch doesn’t make law, of course, its members take on cases – either on appeal or directly – and decide on the merits of plaintiffs and defendants, sometimes ruling on whether a statute is constitutional (on a state or federal level).
“The Supreme Court on Thursday morning left in place a ruling by the Oklahoma Supreme Court rejecting an effort by a Catholic virtual charter school to become the country’s first religious charter school. In an unsigned one-sentence order, the justices indicated that, with Justice Amy Coney Barrett recused from the case, they had divided 4-4. The order did not indicate how any of the justices voted. That tie means the state supreme court’s opinion remains good law, although it is binding only in Oklahoma and does not have nationwide effect.”
Howe’s notation about the charter school seeming to violate the state constitution’s prohibition against state money being used for the establishment of a religious institution appears to be the key, and validates the SCOTUS ruling. The federal constitution and its First Amendment, does not have a bearing here, because the First Amendment pertains only to Congress. Again, here is the link!
