The US and Iran engaged in their first phase of peace/arms-control negotiations. The US is, essentially, threatening to attack Iran unless Iran stops what the US claims is a nuclear weapons program. The US has not produced any evidence, and the International Atomic Energy Association regularly gets access to the Iranian nuke energy programs and reports that the nuclear fuel is not being refined to weapons-grade levels, but, instead, is being used to create nuclear energy systems. The US wants this ended, plus numerous Iranian defense systems already operational to be ended, and the US is threatening to bomb Iran and work with the Israeli government to "stop" the nuke-weapons program that is has never shown Iran to be working on... They also want massive decreases in conventional Iranian weapons. Here's the link.

For those familiar with the actual wording of the Constitution -- including its lack of mention of any federal "immigration control" power, as well as the right to freedom of assembly and worship supposedly protected by the First Amendment, and the fact that Article Four, Section Four requires a request from the state to have federal "troops" enter a state — this is pretty astounding. Many people (I was among them) think or recently thought that Rubio was deporting people based on the "Alien Enemies Act" (itself, massively unconstitutional, and the SCOTUS did a disservice to the Constitution by only telling the Trump team that if they were going to use the 1798 statute they had to give Due Process - the actual ENTRANCE into the states without invitation is a major constitutional red flag). In fact, Rubio is trying to utilize a different statute, which, also, creates the same problem. Jacob Sullum covers his own angles as to why the statute is problematic on a constitutional level. How generous of them. Not only have internal legal documents shown that TSA bureaucrats view their work as "security theater" and the internal measurements of "effectiveness" (like ABC News' exposes also revealed) show that the TSA not only allows the vast majority of "bomb-like" substances through the screenings, the TSA does not improve and it regularly violates the Fourth Amendment as a part of its existence. This is quite interesting. I was unaware of the deeper conflict re the data. REAL ID... The feds of both parties have been pushing it for years, threatening to withhold "highway funds" (unconstitutional pork), then telling people that if their state government doesn't comply, they, as individuals, will not be allowed to fly over any of the US or its territories. The REAL ID concept is brazenly unconstitutional, asserting a prior restraint against peaceful movement and against freedom of association/contract. Whatever rationale the feds might try to offer is of zero consequence, because rationales do not justify breaking the US Constitution. LINK!

With this ruling, the Khalil case stands between the horns of a dilemma created by two courts. This LA court ruling says, "Why bother with the Constitution? Sure, deport him..." While another judge ruled a few days ago that the feds can continue to try to remove him by arguing in the NJ court, but he must be afforded Due Process, and even Rubio's own two-page submission to the court admitted no criminal wrong doing (as noted by Sullum in the Reason piece, Rubio says they don't need to cite real wrongdoing, the feds can claim "national security" - that amorphous term they can use to mean virtually anything, even the term to shut down TikTok - or "adverse foreign policy consequences.".) Here is an example of where an idea goes off the proverbial rails. This Idaho legislation is quite valid when it applies to government entities, but not to private businesses. Business owners, employees, and customers all should be able to operate under their own standards and work with each other based on their own volition. Unless a business owner changes a work environment contrary to an agreed-upon contract, he or she should be free to produce and enforce any standard, and employees can do the same - likewise for customers, who are the final employers. To tell the normative "employer" that he or she cannot mandate jabs or hats, or anything else, as a condition of employment is to curtail free will and freedom, and could be flipped to say that the state can tell potential employees that they MUST agree to be jabbed, or must not, as a condition before they can take a job, or that a consumer only can trade with a seller under certain conditions set by the state.

This is a spot-on analysis of Trump’s tariff policy, on politicians turning blind eyes to the balance of trade (which is ALWAYS part of free trades among consenting individuals), and on the fakery of Trump’s claims re the levels of tariffs imposed by foreign governments. The point he makes about the power of a monetary unit influencing how much foreign goods that unit can buy, and how both Trump and foreign nations are starting to push for inflationary monetary policies as ways to prop up their exports.
