California has two legislative moves to watch, and to inspire worry. First, AB 1333, which redefines the "Castle Doctrine" and opens it further to arbitrary government definitions such as "excessive force" and others. LINK! Check out how the article here doesn't apply badly needed critical focus on those leverage points. As an example:
"Democratic California lawmaker Rick Chavez Zbur introduced Assembly Bill 1333, which aims to limit justifiable homicide, including in defense of habitation or property. The bill also clarifies that homicide is not justifiable when excessive force is used.
Zbur stated the bill’s goal is to prevent vigilante actions like Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of self-defense charges in 2021."
Who defines "excessive force"? This has been a long-standing problem in government jurisprudence concerning self-defense. The state holds the cards, of course. The other major penalty horn that blares, just in the report, is that Zbur's goal is to prevent actions like that of Kyle Rittenhouse, whose actions for his self-defense were found to have been LEGAL. In other words, Zber wants to prohibit what Kyle Rittenhouse was found by a jury to have done to protect his own life. If Rittenhouse had complied with this kind of political mendaciousness, he would have been killed.
Not cool.
CA bill aims to limit self-defense rights in homicide cases, sparks controversy
Full Story. Democratic California State Assemblyman Rick Chavez Zbur introduced a bill that would amend the state’s penal code to limit a person’s ability to protect themselves inside their home. The bill would also clarify that homicide isn’t justifiable when excessive force is used.

According to an article by Kenneth Schrupp of The Center Square, AB 1333 removes legal protections for individuals who intervene in crimes to stop violent offenders. If passed, the law could increase the legal risks for bystanders attempting to help others in dangerous situations.

Newsom and LA Mayor Bass (and their entire bureaucratic, centralized government system) were embarrassed by how well land developer Rick Caruso handled the fire threat posed against his properties. He utilized private fire-fighters, incentivizing a market approach that already showed itself to perform well, even as the government system set itself up for failure and DID fail, causing loss of life, and billions in lost property.

As I mentioned in an earlier MRCTV piece, Caruso not only showed how much better the private system works, he didn't tell other people to pay for what he wanted, AND he allowed the government system to concentrate the tax-funded resources on other needs. Jeesh!

The only states that have utilized Article Four, Section Four to ask the feds for help on their borders are Florida and Texas. This government operation is totally unconstitutional, for those who pay attention to it. And even if the Constitution were amended to allow for this type of central government action, the Constitution has no legitimate authority over me or anyone else who is a civilian in the US. As admirable as the Founders were in trying to set up a system of barriers and explicit controls for their system, it's akin to a gang gathering 250 years ago to form a Mafia, signing an agreement that pretends all of their neighbors from various areas consent to it when they don't, claiming that specially "elected" members of future generations can, somehow, "legitimately" occupy the positions of control they are claiming, and then, finally, claiming that they are building into their illegitimate claim of power certain "barriers" to what the illegitimate Mafia can do.

The courts are on fire, in numerous districts and circuits. This one pertains to the Dept of Defense, seeing a SF Federal District Court Judge block Trump's call to fire thousands of recently hired "probationary" employees. The Dept of Defense, alone, could see 5,400 layoffs. But, despite there being a clear prerogative for the head of the Executive Branch to handle its employees, subject only to impeachment of a Prez, this is where things stand, until an appeal is heard (Trump says he will respect all judicial rulings on these matters, which is not what he is supposed to do - he's supposed to follow the Constitution)... On my streaming program Thursday, I got to dig into Trump's foolish idea for making eggs more affordable. Since the USDA has ordered so many chickens to be culled since 2022 (with a skyrocketing number of 13 MILLION in Jan of this year, alone), the dearth of eggs has gotten many Americans to start looking into the problem. Trump's brilliant idea? Since people can't shell out the money for this relatively smaller pool of eggs, Trump wants to take tax money to buy foreign eggs and bring them here. This, from the man who already has imposed tariffs on Chinese goods and is readying more against EU, Mexican, and Canadian goods, and from a man who is in charge of a USDA that also imposes heavy regulations on the importation of chickens. Sooo, the government has ordered mass culls, purportedly to stop "bird flu" — which is not a widespread problem at all — and makes it more expensive to import chickens, and Trump's answer to save money for people is to take their money and buy eggs, which tacitly acknowledges that restricting the importation of something limits the supply, which, in turn, pumps up the cost. Here's the news via Zerohedge, which has plenty of links within. LINK!
The Trump administration is planning a significant increase in US egg imports to counter the Biden-Harris administration's questionable handling of the avian flu crisis. The previous administration's approach—mass culling of tens of millions of birds at commercial broilers with little consideration for the marketplace—has led to record-high egg prices.
www.zerohedge.com
And here is another link. BTW, the USDA claims about "infections" are unsupportable. A big tell exposing the government fearmongering is the fact that wild birds are doing quite well. But, even if there WERE a widespread avian flu that were dangerous to humans, the federal government has no constitutional role in either trying to stop it or in running anything called the USDA.

I grabbed some stats and did some of the math on the number of chickens ordered culled (some poultry corporations are being paid by the feds to do so, i.e. subsidized and incentivized, as noted above — thank you, fascism) and here's how it breaks down: reports indicate that 108 million egg-laying chickens have been culled from 2022 through January 29, 2025, with 13 million of those losses occurring in 2025 alone up to that point. For the full year of 2024, the USDA reported that HPAI was responsible for the deaths of more than 20 million egg-laying hens in just the last quarter (October-December 2024), with November and December accounting for 17.2 million of those. Each chicken averages 280 eggs per year. Total 30,240,000,000 eggs lost from the start of 2022...

Here's another move by Trump that tells students of economics that he doesn't really get it. He just issued an Executive Order cutting down (pun intended) numerous federal limits and regulations on timber harvesting in the US. BUT that EO also requires agencies to produce within 270 days "assessments" of the "national security threat" of IMPORTED TIMBER! God forbid that people get the wood to build homes at lower prices. Trump literally said a few weeks ago that Canada was "ripping us off" by, get this, its lumber sellers selling at low prices. Remember when you paid less for something, and said, "DANG! I sure hate getting ripped off like that!" Here's one facet of it.

Starmer has no power over any of this. The UK and France cannot really operate in Ukraine without massive risks and often would require US technical assistance. Starmer also worked to see Harris elected, so fans of Trump already don't take kindly to him on that level. Meanwhile, the Starmer government is pushing for the farm inheritance tax to be applied to farms valued at just 1 Mil Pounds, which would bankrupt thousands of farmers, he still imposes an insane "green agenda" that limits oil and gas recovery in the North Sea, and subsidizes foolish and wasteful "climate change" plans like forcing up the costs of gas burners and oil heat in homes. He seems bizarrely interested in starving the civilian population of money, food, and fuel and intent on funneling his ill-gotten tax and central bank money to Ukrainian interests. LINK!

As I suspected, Brendan Carr is not going to be a friend of free speech on social media or ISPs. He is going to engage in a conservative version of what Biden was pressuring social media to do.
Claiming that a social media site is the "public square" (a-la the errant 1946 "Marsh v. Alabama" SCOTUS ruling) does not mean that social media will be open to all who would like to speak freely. It means that the government will decide what is or is not permitted on the media sites. This always is the way any private property that is considered "public" is transformed by government. Using the '46 precedent politicians made this the case with the "Public Accommodations" portion of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, then with the H Bush era "Americans with Disabilities Act" (ADA), and it is an inherent part of any use of the word "public space" that politicians apply to private property. The hitch here is that these are corporations, so some might argue that if businesspeople ask for corporate status from the feds (there is nothing in the US Constitution allowing the feds to bless anything with "corporation" status, then they must accept any restriction on their rights that the government demands. But this runs afoul of most jurisprudential scholarship regarding "Unconstitutional Conditions" whereby court have ruled that governments cannot demand that people give up supposedly "Constitutionally protected rights" in order to receive a government benefit. This was the case when Florida tried to make welfare recipients pass drug tests (contrary to the 4th A) and in the Cabrini Green housing case in Illinois decades ago (the govt wanted people getting Section 8 housing to be open to no-knock inspections for drugs). Additionally, Reason make a good point regarding the SCOTUS 2024 ruling in Loper-Bright. This arbitrary expansion proposed by Carr is absurd, as is the existence of the FCC.
