What do politicians have to do with whether one buys a car under the agreement that facets of it can only be repaired at dealerships? This is a matter for the buyers and the sellers, not third parties in government who want to tell others how they will come to their agreements for car purchases and sales. And is it, perhaps, ironic, that goon-types in government are insisting that car sellers let people go to indie auto repair outlets, insist that the buyers be released from the purchase agreements, when these politicians exist within a sphere that does not allow us to be free of them and even FORCES itself on us?
Then there is the "intellectual property" aspect of this. Government is not the appropriate entity to enforce "IP". Doing "IP" enforcement through government requires others to pay for the enforcement. That means that those who want their "intellectual property" protected by government will have government invade other people's private property to pay for the enforcement. That's circular and unethical. But, of course, don't expect any of these gasbaggy gubment cats to get into any of the ethics involved with statism. Here's their populist posing story! LINK!

On most aspects of the argument about visas for skilled workers, Musk is correct and the so-called "anti-big-government" MAGA folks are wrong (and they support big government in the process). In fact, beyond the obvious reality that the feds aren't supposed to be involved in any of this, the sudden argument over H1B visas reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend many years ago. He worked in computer programming, and for much of our conversation about immigration, as it focused on blue-collar work, he enthusiastically agreed: "Yeah! People should be able to hire whomever they want. Just like any other factor of production, businesses have to compete to keep prices low for consumers, so they should be able to get the best bang for their buck" is, essentially, what he said. But when I included tech - "white-collar' - workers, he suddenly, and without embarrassment, said, "Oh, no! Not in tech! Those guys will steal our jobs!" Seriously.
And, yeah, some argue that the corporations will "exploit" those they hire people who are here on those visas, they claim that the "visa status" could give the workers less leverage in negotiations. But the risk of being pushed out by a government change in the visa system is not driven by employers, and the risk of being replaced is no different than what any employee or business owner experiences when someone might want to change his buying behavior and hire someone else or patronize another business. Regardless of the protectionist attitudes many MAGA might have, they do not have any right to engage in gangland aggression to tell others whom they can and cannot employ, just like they have no right to tell others whom they can engage in conversation or playing a card game, just like they have no right to tell any of us what we might peacefully buy as consumers. If they want to use political "borders" and "distance" as part of their nativist calculus, how far will they allow someone to go to hire another? Is it alright to work with someone in another state? Another town? We really, really, have to protect our town's workforce from those eeeevil skilled workers out there who might drive over and do something for money! Freedom of association is a principle. And, practically, for many of these H1B workers, if enough pressure is applied to keep them out, employers can find ways to work with them via distance-electronic communications. Meanwhile, the nativists push prices up for consumers and restrict the competitive market process that normally produces higher quality at lower price.
This is an area where basic economics and ethics often gets overlooked, and Musk is correct here. Link!

He doesn't have to ask. As the incoming President, he can refuse to enforce the ban. He actually has a sworn constitutional duty to NOT enforce unconstitutional statutes, and if the members of Congress don't like his inertia, they can try to impeach him. More in the immigration three-ring circus. Actually, it's fifty rings, since the state politicians like Newsom refuse to admit that there is a thing called federalism and refuse to discuss the US Constitution lacking any federal power to control immigration in California. He simply "resists" without putting forward what could be a very powerful and educational argument about what the Founders constructed. Here, he even seems to be formulating a plan that would see a massive confrontation between Trump's gang and the CA govt, and would see the CA govt actually creating targets for the feds to site as prime places to apprehend "illegal immigrants." It really would be great if just one of these political players acknowledged that the word "immigration" isn't in the federal Constitution. LINK!

The US is the top funder of the UN. Why should US taxpayers be forced to pay for any "site" in the world? Here's a great example of decentralization and local interests handling things. The less corporatism, the less world-government "planning" there is, the more local folks can maintain what they find valuable. FA Hayek had it right when he explained the problems that large spheres of control have in trying to know local interests and get local data. Both the moral prerogative to be left alone and the practical outcome of that principle leading to what people can more precisely define as "preferable" are linked. LINK!

First, this conversation between Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate offers VERY valuable information on what things are like in Syria right now, as the scavengers and the marauders (many of the forces that were behind the overthrow of Assad and tied to the US occupation there for years) fight over the scraps of the former nation.

This is a good double-bill, and I want to mention that I don’t think Larry Wilkerson’s take is the same as mine when it comes to Israel paving the way for its own economic and security collapse prior to a much larger conflagration that Netanyahu and the US might cause. Wilkerson’s theory that Israel’s aggression has limits does not take into consideration the fact that, via the US and its central banking and international subsidy system, Israel will continue to receive oodles of cash from the US, and as Syria gets carved up, the US destabilization campaign will see certain special interests get giant shares of the corrupt takings from the remnants of Syria. In fact, much of the US international regime-change M.O. lends itself to this corrupt system, whereby the Deep Staters know they can rely on federal borrowing of centrally-created cash, funnel it into weapons and payoffs for foreign tools, then see US (or Israeli-US) backed corporations kick back the ill-gotten lucre from the new colonialism. It’s not much different than what the British and Dutch did in Africa and India long ago. See what you think!
