Our easy-to-stream audio edition of tonight's big news (and Textual Tuesday Book Suggestion!) program...

Welcome, fellow Conspirators!

As Trump flips and attacks and accuses his victims of being the aggressors (and his supporters portray as "ungrateful" those of us who don't want to be FORCED to pay for it), we also look at Trump's unconstitutional ICE goons, invading Maine, killing a man, and how politicians rationalize mobster activity. Thanks to everyone who came along for the program tonight and added so much key scholarship and thinking, and thanks to all the fine journalists whose work we got to feature tonight! - Join us, m-f 6 PM on Rumble or on X, and get the audio pod via Substack or Spotify, soon after each program is done! WAR

IRAN

Trump is backtracking from his “20% demand for a fee for the pretend “ability” to be helped through the Strait of Hormuz by US forces, forces he claimed yesterday have provided all kinds of “protection” to Mid-Eastern nations, despite Iran proving the US could not protect them. He seems to have realized the hypocrisy of his bloodthirsty regime claiming that it was illegal for Iran to charge for passage through Iranian waters, but then to turn around and say that the US would charge to cross. “Trump Backtracks on 20% Hormuz Strait Fee, Says He Wants ‘Trade and Investment Deals’ From Gulf States - News From Antiwar.com” LINK Dave DeCamp’s coverage of this last night (before Trump backtracked) is great…

And, Iran is showing Trump that, no, he is not in charge in the Strait. In fact, we have this BREAKING NEWS

Iran is striking back against US-attached assets in Jordan, Bahrain, UAE. First, A Nestle Quik look at the latest re Bahrain.

  • Iran’s reported strike on Bahrain with over 30 missiles, including a Khorramshahr carrying cluster munitions, is part of the escalating 2026 Iran war, responding to recent US strikes on Iranian targets and aimed at US military assets in the Gulf.

  • Bahrain hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, making it a strategic target; air raid sirens sounded multiple times with resident reports of heavy explosions and shaking windows, following a similar Iranian attack on Kuwait.

  • The Khorramshahr is a medium-range Iranian ballistic missile capable of delivering various warheads; early updates indicate Bahrain issued an all-clear after assessing impacts, though full damage details remain unconfirmed amid the broader regional conflict.

Jordan:

Daniel Davis Nails it, re US “control”, the US clearly breaching the MoU and provoking Iran, the US using Saudi to attack Yemen, and more

How did ‘we’ get to this point?

Iran acted in defense of Iranian sovereignty, after adherence to the MoU (interim ceasefire agreement), while the US repeatedly has violated its commitments through unprovoked aggression:
Over the past 24 hours, the United States continued its assault on Iranian territory with precision strikes using aircraft, missiles, drones, and sea drones targeting coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities in southern Iran, including key locations such as Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Chabahar, Konarak, Jask, and Abu Musa.
In legitimate response to these violations of the MoU and to protect its sovereignty, Iran launched large-scale retaliatory strikes with ballistic missiles (including advanced Khorramshahr systems reportedly carrying cluster munitions warheads) and swarms of drones against US military assets hosted in Bahrain and Kuwait. Targets in Bahrain included the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Juffair and Sheikh Isa air base; in Kuwait, facilities such as Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Arifjan. Reports indicate over 30 missiles directed at Bahrain in one of the largest such operations, with heavy explosions reported and air defenses engaging. These actions affirm Iran’s right to self-defense against foreign aggression on its region while upholding its sovereign claims.
Oil price overview since the US resumed its assault over the weekend:
Renewed US strikes and threats to Hormuz shipping have driven sharp volatility and upward pressure on global oil markets. Brent crude rose significantly from around $72–78 per barrel in calmer periods following the June MoU to levels exceeding $84–85 per barrel by midday, today, with notable daily gains of 2–4% or higher in recent sessions amid fears of disrupted flows through the strategic waterway. This surge reflects the economic fallout of US belligerence, increasing costs for energy-dependent economies worldwide while highlighting the leverage Iran holds over critical global supply routes through its sovereign actions.

GAZA

Unbelievable corruption inside Israeli minds… The “ceasefire” continues, including the “deceasefire” killing of the POLICE CHIEF OF THE JABALIA REFUGEE CAMP...

US SENATE

Same as it ever was.

NDAA Sec 219

Thomas Massie continues to fight to stop it

Curiously, it should not matter whether the integration of US arms makers, US government funds, and a foreign nation is tied to the nation of Israel. None of it is moral or constitutional. Jeffries is a big supporter of getting big support for his bank account, support from Israel.

Massie speaks on the matter.

Oh, and look… More Israeli influencing on social media. One wonders who receives their blood money…

And we noted this in yesterday’s News Notes, but I wanted to do more research…

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s July 2026 campaign aims to dismantle the International Criminal Court “brick by brick” through sanctions, visa bans, and pressure on allies to withdraw.

This is a good overview of the unscrupulous actions of Rubio and Trump et al. “US to seek dismantling of International Criminal Court, Rubio announces - JURIST - News” LINK

Marco Rubio’s July 2026 announcement that the United States will dismantle the International Criminal Court “brick by brick” through sanctions, visa bans, and pressure on allies marks a sharp rejection of the very institution the U.S. once helped legitimize. The move targets ICC arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, actions carried out with weapons and munitions supplied in large part by American military aid.

This stance reveals a clear inconsistency with America’s post-World War II record. The United States led the Nuremberg prosecutions, insisted on codifying the Geneva Conventions, and championed the United Nations framework to prevent impunity for aggression and atrocities. Those efforts rested on the principle that no nation, however powerful, stands above international rules when grave crimes are committed. Today, however, Washington treats the ICC—an outgrowth of that same post-war commitment to accountability—as illegitimate the moment it examines the conduct of a close ally. The court’s jurisdiction in the Palestine situation stems from Palestine’s status as a state party; the U.S. and Israel are not parties and have long refused its authority. Yet the pattern is familiar: the U.S. endorses international law when it constrains adversaries and rejects it when it constrains friends or itself. The result is a selective application that privileges strategic partnerships over consistent standards, undermining the universal norms the United States helped embed after 1945.

US ECONOMY

This is an important picture of the downward curve for the US economy, because the US government continues to expand while its need for money increases, simultaneously needing bond sales and low interest rates, the rates of which have inverse relationships. And all of it is thirsting for your money, via taxation of every form and via the inflation of the money supply that waters down the buying power of your earnings. It’s going to get much worse.

BTW re the tariffs Trump imposed last year that the US Supreme Court found to be unconstitutional? Approximately $166 billion in IEEPA tariffs was collected by the U.S. government and is subject to refund following the Supreme Court’s February 20 ruling. As of the most recent available data (up to July 10), about $86.3 billion (including interest) has been repaid, with roughly $121.75 billion accepted/queued for processing. In other words, the Trumpers haven’t returned approximately half of the stolen/expropriated cash to the companies/importers who had to pay. LINK

IMMIGRATION POLICE STATE

For the second time in a week, ICE agents (already not welcomed in Maine, per the Governor’s own statements, which ties to Article Four, Section Four of the US Constitution) have shot and killed an innocent person. “Man killed by ICE in Maine days after Houston shooting” LINK This man had a work visa, but, in a deeper ethical level, no one should have to get permission from parasites in the tax-demanding polis to move around and peacefully associate with anyone.

GOVT RUNNING ROADS - DEALING W STATE POLITICIANS ON THEM - NH STYLE

Yeah!!! This one lets us contemplate the state running roads, and the ways that “constitutions”, despite being written “rule books”, always are subject to innumerable “interpretations” to favor one person, side, group, interest, or another. This member of the NH legislature was caught TWICE in the SAME MORNING, far exceeding the speed limit. But she claimed she was immune from being pulled over and detained even for a brief moment — protected by the NH Constitution… “State rep claimed Constitution held her immune from speeding tickets to and from State House” LINK
