Today in Istanbul, foreign and defense ministers and military chiefs from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan held the first meeting of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement’s Strategic Political and Defense Committee. They discussed joint production, force interoperability, a secretariat, and a roadmap to implement the “attack on one is an attack on all” pledge signed in Mecca on 7 August. LINK This session advances overdue regional self-reliance. After decades as a theater for U.S. strategy and Israeli military dominance, the three nations are forging complementary capabilities of their own. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called the pact defensive, complementary to NATO, and open to expansion, while labeling Netanyahu an enemy of humanity. The Mecca Accord is a concrete step toward genuine Middle East autonomy. LINK This morning, Nima Alkhorshid welcomed Former Swiss Col Jacques Baud (himself a victim of EU economic attacks due to his clear reporting on the US/NATO/EU influence on Ukraine), and Jacques offered some key insights into the meeting and how it appears to be a defensive posture against Israel, especially due to recent Israeli claims to take over Jerusalem, and the Al-Aqsa mosque.
The mosque area is actually 35 sq acres, and the Israelis already claim control over part of it, but not the interior of the mosque, which is supposed to be protected by international agreement. (As if that has done anything except allow Israel to expand). Key to keep in mind:
Jewish visits have risen sharply (tens of thousands per year).
Police have increasingly tolerated Jewish prayer, singing, and even prostration.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and other ministers have visited, declared “the Temple Mount is in our hands,” and said Jews should be allowed to pray there.
Some Knesset members and Temple activist groups openly call for removing the Islamic buildings and building a Third Temple.

VENEZUELA
Trump Sunday claimed that the US has “made a deal” with VZ, and it comes in two parts. First, the US will be taking 35% of VZ oil sales funneled through a private company. Here is what Drop Site notes about the new colonialism/fascism:
—The Trump administration plans to take a 35% passive stake in North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), the private company at the center of its new Venezuela oil deal, the Wall Street Journal reports. Washington would also get preferential rights to buy 20% of its production at cost.
➤ The Pentagon’s Office of Strategic Capital would use warrants to give the U.S. equity without a major upfront investment. The Financial Times reports it would also provide guarantees to reduce risks for companies developing the fields.
➤ NABEP would gain access to 17 oilfields containing more than 65 billion barrels, about one-fifth of Venezuela’s reserves, and could license fields or form joint ventures with other investors.
➤ NABEP is led by Alejandro Betancourt, a wealthy, politically connected Venezuelan businessman whom the Financial Times describes as one of the country’s most prominent “Bolichicos,” the class of magnates who accumulated fortunes through ties to governments that emerged under Hugo Chávez.
➤ Betancourt built his fortune through no-bid electricity contracts before expanding into deals connected to state oil company PDVSA; NABEP now produces about 200,000 barrels a day, making it Venezuela’s second-largest private oil producer after Chevron. He and his companies have been investigated in Spain and Switzerland over alleged money laundering and embezzlement, but he has not been charged and denies wrongdoing, according to the FT.
The Pres also said that the US will be “refilling” the “Strategic Oil Reserves” using oil from VZ. As I noted Sunday on X, the VZ oil literally is not useful to fill the reserves. It is too sulfur-heavy. Official DOE requirements limit sour crude to max 1.99% sulfur and 30-45° API gravity; Venezuelan Orinoco grades often reach 2-5.7% sulfur, 8-16° API, high acidity (TAN often >1.0), and extreme viscosity, risking cavern corrosion, sludge, and unpumpable storage.
Then there is the length of time to get the machines operating properly, and the security required…

US ECONOMY
The Trump-GOP is ramping up the rhetoric to convince as many people as possible that the economy is grrrrreat… As Frank Zappa might say, “Okay, fine. Fer-sure, fer-sure…”
And here, he seems to be threatening to cut off trade with Switzerland, claiming that eliminating the opportunity to buy their exports would make US residents wealthier… We kid you not!
WAGES
Emmer simply lies. And he does it repeatedly, in less than 1.5 minutes.
Wages are not rising faster than they have in decades. IN fact, Emmer, as Stephen Moore did not do two weeks ago, does not include the rising number of unemployed or those no longer looking for work. Additionally, even for those employed, their wages are not keeping up with price inflation. BLS average hourly earnings for all private employees were about $37.62 in July 2026, up 3.2% from a year earlier. That is ordinary mid-cycle nominal growth, not an outlier by historical standards. Nominal wage growth was often higher in the 1970s–80s. After inflation, the picture is weaker. Real average hourly earnings for all employees fell 0.2% from July 2025 to July 2026. For production and nonsupervisory workers—about four-fifths of the private workforce, and a closer proxy for typical pay—real hourly earnings fell 0.1% over the same year. Real weekly earnings were roughly flat to slightly up only because hours ticked higher. The Atlanta Fed’s Wage Growth Tracker, which follows the same people’s pay 12 months apart and reports the median change, was 3.8% in July 2026. That is a modest real gain for people who stayed employed, once you subtract inflation in the mid-3% range. It is not “faster than in decades.” LINK

This is the 26th annual meeting, and it is a big deal. Iran’s President is there, and this series of meetings will see major economic agreements and an acceleration of a BRICS-like push away from the collapsing Dollar. Pepe Escobar told Danny Heiphong today that the nations will announce a new SCO Development Bank, which will run parallel to the NDB (the BRICS Bank). It will delink third-world nations from the Dollar.

Trump now is attacking NBC and threatening to have the FCC pull the license that the FCC should not be issuing because the FCC is not sanctioned by the US Constitution and, even if it were, no one has a right to demand that you pay for a “broadcast licensing bureau” that will police speech. “Trump’s answer to bad press? “FCC TO THE RESCUE!” - Salon.com” LINK
-Recall, of course, the US attack on Disney-ABC, by pushing closer the deadline for FCC license re-approval, meaning new costs for the stations and the larger corporation. LINK An Aug. 31 USA TODAY piece reviews the broader FCC-ABC fight and its potential impact on broadcasting, noting the early-renewal order and ABC’s lawsuit but not a new Trump quote from the prior 72 hours.
ANOTHER facet of the feds getting into the act. In this case, they are claiming to stop foreign governments from attacking the speech of US citizens, yet the US DC GOP and Most Dems in DC want to censor Americans and others who speak up against Israel on college campuses and they want to label as “antisemitic” anyone who criticizes the nation-state of Israel. And then there is the KOSA… almost passed. The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) requires platforms to exercise a “duty of care” toward minors by mitigating designs and content tied to harms like self-harm, eating disorders, and anxiety, plus default high-privacy settings and parental controls. It clashes with the First Amendment’s wording that “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech.” The duty deputizes platforms to suppress lawful speech on government-defined “harmful” topics—a content-based restriction. Age-gating also burdens adults’ and minors’ rights to receive information anonymously. As of late August 2026, the House passed a weaker KIDS Act package (KOSA without duty of care) on June 29. The Senate Commerce Committee advanced stronger S.1748 on August 5; it awaits a full Senate vote amid House-Senate deadlock.
IMMIGRATION POLICE STATE
ICE Goon commander Tom Homan (he who once worked for Geo Group, the private prison corporation often hired by ICE to cage its kidnap victims) is not a fool. Over the weekend, he appeared on CNN to claim that ICE and the Border goons had NOT arrested kids and parents in schools and not arrested people in churches. Of course, truthful people know that these are kidnappings, not arrests. They are under color of law, not Natural Law (the state always stands in opposition to Natural Law), and Homan likely is well aware of the fact that his gangs have kidnapped people on the WAY to school, and just outside churches. Here is an info-graphic vid noting his claim:
Homan keeps saying ICE has not arrested anyone inside a church, hospital, or elementary school. That wording matters. If you suspected he was parsing, trying to skirt by saying his opponents had accused him of certain egregious acts (acts that actually were NOT the accusations), then using his own straw dogs to pretend at innocence, you are spot-on. We have seen NUMEROUS ICE kidnappings in parking lots, drop-off lines, bus stops, and people on the way to church or school.
Let’s go back a few months…
In February 2026, during the Minnesota surge, Homan said ICE had not arrested anyone inside a hospital, school, or church, and challenged critics to produce a case. He also said those places are “not off the table” for a public-safety or national-security target. Then, yesterday, after Sen. Chris Murphy on the 26th said ICE was arresting parents at Danbury, Connecticut bus stops,
…Homan told CNN he was “not aware” of bus-stop arrests, repeated the “no one inside an elementary school / hospital / church” line, and said there is no safe harbor for people with removal orders, especially criminals or “national-security threats” (that lovely play-doh term). LINK
Context: on January 21, 2025, DHS revoked the old “sensitive locations” guidance that had generally steered ICE and Border Patrol away from schools, churches, and hospitals. Officials said agents should use “common sense,” and that criminals would no longer be able to hide in those places.
Some items to mention to Homan
1. Kidnappings in church parking lots and church grounds: yes. There is a substantial public record of ICE or other DHS officers detaining people on church property, in church parking lots, or immediately outside churches, especially after the policy change. Documented examples:
Tucker, Georgia (Jan. 26, 2025): Wilson Velásquez was in Sunday service at Iglesia Fuente de Vida when his ankle monitor went off. He went outside; agents were waiting and arrested him in the parking lot / outside the church. This is widely described as the first high-profile church-adjacent arrest of the second Trump term. He was not taken from a pew.
Downey, California (June 2025): Armed, masked officers detained a man in the parking lot of Downey Memorial Christian Church; a pastor said agents pointed a long gun at him.
San Bernardino County, California (June 20, 2025): Officers detained a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes in Montclair on church property. Separate agents chased men onto the parking lot of St. Adelaide in Highland. DHS said the Montclair case began as a traffic stop and the man pulled into the church lot; it denied agents entered the church hall.
Other complaint filings and reporting list arrests outside churches in Oregon, Washington state (family leaving Sunday services, surrounded in the parking lot), Los Angeles-area church fronts, and a grandfather dropping a child at a church school.
National Catholic Reporter and later summaries have said DHS had not, as of late 2025, been shown to raid a church building during worship, but agents had arrested people on or near church property in multiple cases. So: “in churches” in the everyday sense of church grounds / leaving church / parking lot — you are largely correct. “Inside the sanctuary during worship” — Homan’s narrow wording still mostly holds in public reporting.Related but different: in 2026, church plaintiffs alleged an undercover ICE agent entered University Baptist Church in Minneapolis and recorded a class in the gym. A judge has treated that as possible violation of an injunction covering certain houses of worship. That is entry and surveillance, not a public immigration arrest of a congregant in the pews.
2. ICE KIDNAPPING PEOPLE at school parking lots, drop-off, pickup, bus stops, and “on the way”? Yes. And this what the parental-arrest / “terrorize little kids” debate is actually about. Examples:
Chula Vista, California (Aug. 2025): Parent arrested on a public roadway near Camarena Elementary during morning drop-off.
Linda Vista Elementary, San Diego (Aug. 2025): Father waiting nearby to pick up his son arrested just before dismissal. DHS said he pulled into a lot and was wanted for Social Security fraud / removal.
Ann Arbor, Michigan (Sept. 2025): Father detained after elementary drop-off; witnesses said agents cut off his car nearby.
Charlotte, North Carolina (May 2025): Parent detained near a magnet school drop-off line, children in the car according to parents/PTA.
Beaverton, Oregon (July 2025): Father driving a child to preschool; ICE allowed him to go to the lot, then broke a car window to arrest him in front of families. ICE said he resisted after a traffic stop.
Portland, Maine: ICE said it arrested a parent after watching him drop a child at school; the man had a prior domestic-violence charge.
Baltimore (June 2026): Two parents detained at/near Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle during drop-off; school said the arrests were on campus. Video showed a woman taken from a car in a school parking lot as children were nearby.
Crystal, Minnesota: Parent arrested while waiting at a school bus stop with a child; principal said students at the stop and on the bus may have seen it.
Bridgeport, Connecticut (May 2026): Father arrested at a bus stop while waiting with his 16-year-old; ICE said the student was not detained and officers waited until the mother arrived.
Minneapolis suburbs: A 10-year-old and her mother were intercepted on the way to a bus stop and sent to a Texas family detention center. DHS said it does not target children or schools and “keeps families together.”
Columbia Heights / Fridley, Minnesota: Superintendents and a lawsuit described agents circling schools, following buses, and staging in school parking lots.
Danbury, Connecticut (this week, late August 2026): Sen. Murphy, the mayor, and local advocates said ICE arrested parents after children boarded school buses, and that operations overlapped with the first days of school. Local officials claimed roughly 50 detentions in a few days. DHS called the “targeted parents at a school bus stop” claim false and said at least one named arrest was of a driver already in the country illegally. Homan said he was not aware of bus-stop arrests. That fight is live and contested; the pattern of near-school / drop-off / bus-adjacent enforcement is not unique to Danbury.
3. Border Patrol at schools: also yes, in at least one major caseAt Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis (January 2026), school officials said Customs and Border Protection officers came onto campus at dismissal, tackled people, handcuffed two staff members, and used chemical munitions near students. That is CBP, not ICE, but it is the same DHS family Homan is defending.
