And New Zealand born actor Sam Neill has died at 78. He suffered from cancer for a while, but recently was diagnosed as cancer-free. Mr. Neill likely is best known for his role in helping the “Jurassic…” series rise to great heights, but for others, his breakout role as Sidney Reilly, in “Reilly: Ace of Spies” was the imprint. His work in that series was remarkable, and offered viewers a window into the history of early Soviet Russia. He added to his acting accomplishments by establishing a well-respected winery, as well.
WAR
Lindsey Graham will not rest, one suspects. He never asked forgiveness, and acts as a lesson to others, perhaps all of us who might reflect on our own (hopefully, much less destructive) errors and sins. His towering level of evil and his death even can be used by God as signals to all of us who might want to take from his death the opportunity to avoid engaging in acts of anger or angry criticism of Graham, and use that time to level-headedly criticize Graham, even as we consider rectifying our own mistakes, asking forgiveness from God, and trying to teach others about avoiding the allure of power that Graham loved so much.

IRAN
Here is a quick recap of the past 24 hours, since the US again provoked Iran….
In the early hours around July 12, the United States again breached clause 5 of the June Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by pushing or facilitating unauthorized commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz along the southern corridor near Oman’s coast. This violated Iran’s sovereign rights as a coastal state and the MoU’s framework for Iran to manage safe passage arrangements, dialogue with Oman, and respect for territorial waters and approved routes (primarily the northern corridor under Iranian oversight). Iran responded defensively to this provocative breach and non-compliance. Revolutionary Guard forces issued warnings to vessels ignoring designated routes and fired a warning shot that struck the Cyprus-flagged container ship, causing significant engine-room damage and fire. The crew abandoned ship (one Indian crew member reported missing). Iran declared the strait closed to unauthorized traffic until U.S. interference ends, asserting its right to enforce order in its territorial waters. The U.S. then escalated with large-scale kinetic attacks: U.S. Central Command conducted airstrikes using precision munitions from fighter aircraft, striking approximately 140 Iranian military targets. These included missile and drone launch/storage sites, ammunition dumps, coastal radar installations, command-and-control nodes, and communication facilities along the southern coast (Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, Qeshm Island areas). The stated goal was degrading Iran’s capacity to protect the strait. Iran responded in self-defense with ballistic missiles and explosive drones targeting U.S. military facilities and assets in the region, including sites in Bahrain (Fifth Fleet-linked radar/comms), Kuwait (Ali Al Salem airbase, Patriot systems, radar/ammo), and reported actions involving other Gulf locations. These events highlight U.S. aggression against Iran’s legitimate territorial and maritime rights under the MoU and international law, while Iran consistently acts to defend its sovereignty without initiating broader conflict.

Trump not only is pretending that the US can control the Strait, he wants even more money for passage than the Iranians demanded they would be able to charge after the initial 60-day free period…
And he inverts every fact re which side breaks agreements.
If Trump is truthful, and the US had “ten” deals with “these people”, but the Iranians broke each one, then why would Trump continue to make “deals” with “these people” after, say, the fourth breach? The fifth? He just fantasizes, every hour of every day. Perhaps what he says means nothing? To reiterate. Trump cannot control the Strait. He only can inspire Iran to lock things up and he can threaten a few ships, all while further strangling the world supply of fuel oil, nat-gas, helium, and fertilizer, not to mention all the foodstuffs and other products that normally pass through the Strait.
AND, Saudi’s government just made things worse for Saudi’s people. Yemen will be provoked to retaliate.
THE UAE is planning a new pipeline, to carry fuel from sea-loading on the west coast to the east, allowing the fuel to skirt the Strait of Hormuz

RUBIO IS in charge, it seems. In an article entitled “How Marco Rubio Is Running Venezuela From Afar” (July 11, 2026) the NYT outlines U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remote control over Venezuela following the US invasion and kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro. It notes that he is a de facto viceroy, managing finances via Treasury oversight of oil revenues, resource allocation, and government policies from Washington. Coverage includes coordination with interim leader Delcy Rodríguez, application of sanctions, U.S. provision of 900 troops and nearly $400 million aid, cash deliveries, and post-earthquake support. Comparisons to L. Paul Bremer in occupied Iraq highlight the unprecedented sway. The piece details mechanisms to prevent corruption and creditor claims while granting Rubio significant leverage over Venezuelan affairs. As of this writing, roughly 70% of the US-stolen, US-sold oil sales revenue is still held by Trump in his semi-govt agency, run by Rubio, who decides how much to hand back to the people in VZ. - Remember when the US govt was angry at Chavez and Maduro for nationalizing the oil fields and controlling the oil revenue? Yeah. Collectivism suits Donald just fine when he and his pals make $ off it.
