Rubio is incredibly deceitful and confused. Now he is trying to smooth over his goof of the other day in saying that if Iran got nuke weapons, they could control the Straits. Since, A. Trump was the one who tore up the agreement with Iran for open inspections and only low-level enrichment (for ENERGY) and Trump assassinated the Ayatollah, who had issued a fatwa against nuke weapons, and since Trump attacked Iran last year and again this year, and the US repeatedly has attacked Iran and tried to change its government since 1953, the US is at fault for the closure and Rubio’s fearmongering about nuke weapons reveals itself as deceptive. B. Iran already can control the straits, and can continue to do so indefinitely. C. The world supply of fuel is dependent on travel and recovery and refining, all of which have been hampered by US and other nation-state edicts.
THE “TRUMP ENERGY DEAL” FAKERY - A CRITICAL ANALYSIS
The ongoing strangulation of the Strait of Hormuz has triggered the largest supply shock in oil-market history. Roughly 10–13 million barrels per day of Middle Eastern crude—previously a cornerstone of global trade and nearly 40 percent of China’s imports—are now effectively off the market. This creates an immediate worldwide shortfall that will not be corrected for many months.
U.S. producers, in limited ways, have stepped in as alternative suppliers. Exports have risen from a baseline of about 4 million barrels per day to record levels of 5–6 million barrels per day. Chinese state-owned enterprises, under high-level government direction, are now competing aggressively for these barrels to replace lost Iranian and broader Persian Gulf volumes.
Yet U.S. crude production remains essentially fixed in the short term at roughly 13.6 million barrels per day. Exploration and new drilling on federal lands were curtailed under the prior Biden administration through leasing pauses and regulatory withdrawals. Even with policy reversals, the timeline for new wells, permits, and infrastructure is 18–24 months or longer. Export terminals in the Gulf of Mexico, while capable of handling recent spikes, are already operating near practical limits of 5–8 million barrels per day.
“Redirecting” U.S. oil to China therefore does not create new supply; it reallocates existing barrels. Every cargo loaded for Asia is one less available for European buyers, domestic refineries, or inventory rebuilding. With global demand unchanged and non-U.S. alternatives scarce, the upward shift in demand for American crude pushes prices higher along an inelastic short-term supply curve. West Texas Intermediate and Brent benchmarks rise in tandem, transmitting directly into U.S. pump prices for gasoline and diesel. Worldwide, the same rationing effect sustains elevated fuel costs for every importer scrambling for the limited pool of non-Middle East barrels.Until the Hormuz chokepoint is resolved or significant new production comes online in 2027 or later, this dynamic will keep both American and global fuel prices materially higher.

CRONYISM/FASCISM/MERCANTILISM v THE ENVIRONMENTAL INTERESTS OF PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNERS
Often, the collective attacks the system of private property and tort law that supports good stewardship and neighborliness. Animated by what they see as “the way” to “protect” the environment, crusaders within the political collective push for the various facets of “nature interests”, as they cite and define and promote them, often missing the fact that their subjective description of what is “important for nature” is arbitrary, that their targeting of what they claim is “in danger” or “important” might clash with someone else’s view, or might clash with the amount of attention the collective must give to a particular matter. Government bureaucracies arise, never disappear, get more power over private property, and then play favorites with the big interests possessed of enough financial or rhetorical power to dangle carrots and sticks before the politicians. Here are two examples of how private property rights are being threatened by government cronyism.
Again, some might think that lifting the burdens on energy plants is constructive, but the plants usually are tied to government power monopolies or oligopolies, so, once more, real property rights and market signals are destroyed.
