Greetings, fellow Conspirators!
Many thanks to all those who joined us live, and thanks to you for getting the podcast! Tonight, we dove into the breaking news that the Houthis in Yemen have (it appears, as we go to press) agreed to a ceasefire in their attacks on US shipping. The move appears to have been brokered in Oman, and comes after the Houthis targeted US and Israeli shipping in RESPONSE to the Israeli’s attacking Gaza, stopping food and water shipments, and backing out of peace agreements with the Hamas negotiators - numerous times. Dave DeCamp, of AntiWar was on top of it as the news emerged this afternoon. We then look at Donald Trump’s sudden flip on his previous position regarding the Ukraine-Russia war. Previously, he had told Zelinsky to accept a peace deal and accept his losses, then he agreed to an insane “mineral deal” that would see US corporate (and, likely, US and NATO, or European military forces) in Ukraine to “keep things safe” for Trump’s corporate pals. But on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, May 4, Trump suddenly told Kristen Welker that Russia would have to give up all of its gains in Ukraine. Would that include the regions that already joined Russia, and overwhelmingly voted to do so? Why the sudden change? I think it is because Trump’s advisors told him that the peace road is done, and they know that the Russians are going to have to finish the conflict via military means. Thus, they want to rhetorically get ahead of events and portray Vladimir Putin as thirsting for all of Ukraine, when there never has been any evidence of that and only evidence of the contrary - that Putin was working to free the four Oblasts of the Donbass that are ethnically Russian from the Nazi Ukranian tyranny they suffered in high-octane form starting in the spring of 2014. Trump’s people know that Putin will have to move militarily to complete this war, and they want to rhetorically gain the advantage and frame him as the complete “aggressor” when, in fact, it was NATO expansion and the overthrow of Yanukovych in late 2013, early 2014, and the attacks on the Donbass that spurred Putin to move. — That, and a lot more, such as key information on a statute just passed in Florida that allows (the Constitution of the US already does - in fact, it mandates this) gold and silver to be used as “legal tender”. We discuss the pernicious nature of all tied of statism to money, and offer some key lessons about that, about true charity, and more.
