If the Obama Administration’s record-breaking attempt to lever the Espionage Act against whistleblowers and journalists was not enough, it Barack and Joe’s attempt to have Lois Lerner use the IRS to silence conservative journalists didn’t open more eyes, if last year’s revelation that the Biden Department of “Justice” had coordinated with a hardcore leftist “US school boards” group to portray as “potential domestic terrorists” concerned parents who attend local school board meeting, and if the emergence of the still-extant DHS “Disinformation Governance Board” (aka, the Ministry of Truth) were not enough to convince most Americans that collectivists in DC want to silence dissent, then, perhaps, an outright call for that from a Biden hack will do the job.

That’s what long-time “government-to-corporate-board-to-government” bureaucrat, and former Obama EPA head Gina McCarthy recently did in a “conversation” with Axios Political Reporter Alexi McCammond.

In video supplied on Twitter by RNC Research, McCarthy performed some jaw-dropping and insulting rhetorical acrobatics, first, by preshaping the narrative, creating a "set table" rhetorical assumption: that, somehow, America -- a gestalt being where all minds must be one -- has moved from blockheaded "denial" about the "reality" of climate catastrophe. Then she goes on to paint as shills of oil companies private citizens who post in social media to question the government lines.

“Now that we’re moving from denial to actually just trying to, to disengage the public from understanding the values of solar energy, the values of wind energy, the benefits of clean energy…”

Though her clunky phrasing is reminiscent of a person attempting to offer a wedding toast after too many visits to the free cocktails bar, emergent is McCarthy’s attempt to frame the debate. There is no question in America now. Like penitent members of some collectivist-styled recovery group, we have been cleansed. “WE” are moving from “denial” to this new paradigm of “understanding” the values of all these great “energy” sources they wish to force on us. Like victims of Stockholm Syndrome, “we” are going to love our captors and see them as our better, smarter, stronger benefactors.

To the sycophantically nodding McCammond, McCarthy then offers the point of her set-up: the push for censorship.

“We have to get tighter. We have to get better at communicating. And, frankly, the tech companies have to stop allowing specific individuals, over and over again, to spread this information. That’s what the fossil fuel companies pay for. That’s what folks who make money out of fossil fuels and don’t make money – and, and don’t care about saving consumers costs – that’s what they do. We have to be smarter than that, and we need the tech companies to really jump in.”

SO… apart from endorsing government-pushed fascist censorship through corporate boards – corporations that already have board members whom the feds indemnify from personally liability for errors their businesses might make – Ms. McCarthy doesn't mention that some of the biggest energy corporations in the world already work with DC (and handsomely pay lobbyists) to impose energy clampdowns, because these big corporations have diversified their investments and gotten onto the Climate Cult bandwagon, while their smaller competitors haven't.

If the biggies can force financially burdensome government mandates on their smaller competitors, even as the big guys get government handouts in other ways, that helps them – all at our expense.

That’s called “Rent-Seeking,” and as a bureaucrat who, with an incredibly useful 1976 college degree in Social Anthropology, has leapfrogged her way from a lowly start on Massachusetts Governor Mike Dukakis’ “Hazardous Waste Safety Council” to higher stints in MA and Connecticut environmental bureaucracies, then joined the Obama Admin, as head of the constitutionally dubious Environmental Protection Agency (where she finalized the disastrously invasive, clearly unconstitutional “Waters of the United States” rule inside the “Clean Water Act,” then helped shut down coal plants in the US), and who subsequently (SURPRISE!) moved to plum positions at the private equity firm Pegasus Capital Advisors, and Harvard, THEN became president and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council… well, let’s just say that Ms. McCarthy ought to be quite familiar with the practice of RENT-SEEKING.

Curiously, McCarthy’s attempt to portray us as paid “Big Oil” apologists — we who might want to call into question loaded stats and disturbing communications among government-sucking Climate Cult shills — lacks some key information about Rent-Seeking that’s already happened and in which the feds and their corporate pals likely will continue to engage.

In September, 2020, Competitive Enterprise Institute Research Fellow Richard Morrison offered some perspective on a big “Climate Change meeting” of energy corporation execs, reminding readers of the Rent-Seeking these corporate execs have been attempting:

“So, while they acknowledge that climate change ‘poses significant environmental, economic, public health and security threats,’ they want to make sure that new policy is ‘maximizing compliance flexibility and minimizing costs’ for themselves. They want the government to ‘support both public and private investment’ in low-carbon technologies, which likely means giving more taxpayer handouts to firms adept at lobbying executive branch officials. No doubt this will enable 100 new Solyndras to bloom.”

Ahh, yes. And perhaps we’ll see more pushes for another of the big Rent Seekers’ faves, “Carbon Credits.”

Writing all the way back in 2010, Heritage Foundation Senior Fellow David W. Kreutzer observed:

“For instance, the Climate Action Partnership strongly supports cap-and-trade legislation, especially if its members get big chunks of the tax revenue.  Among the founding corporate members, Duke Energy, BP, Honeywell International, NRG Energy, Shell Oil, Dow Chemical, and Alcoa rank in the top 50 most active clients lobbying in the energy area.”

And he added:

“As current and proposed policies offer billions in subsidies to both wind and nuclear power, it’s another dog-bites-man story when we find representatives of the wind and nuclear power industries in the top 50 as well. Of course those expecting big losses from the proposed regulations and taxes are lobbying hard to stave them off.  So coal and refining interests are also well represented in the top 50.”

And those big losses came, and they continue to come as more and more Americans see Biden Administration policies in a much clearer, and forbidding, light.

From shutting down pipelines and oil/natural gas exploration, to impeding border trucker and ocean shippers with “get jabbed or get lost” mandates, McCarthy and her Biden gang appear intentionally set to raise the prices of “fossil fuels” so high that her grand claim of “alternative” energy efficiency can appear reasonable.

It is not.

It is fascistic; this is undeniable, and it is wicked.

And now, she has openly called for fascist censorship of people who might disagree, who might see her employment of the word “we” as forced inclusion, and who might ask just to be left the heck alone and free to buy the fuel they want to buy.
