BREAKING: RFKj Makes Startling Response to Gun Control
Something to which both left and right should listen
One of the questions in today's RFKj Twitter Spaces interview with Elon Musk was on gun control. I was very surprised the direction that RFKj took — and happy to hear him call out what I believe is the fundamental problem with school shooting that's ignored by BOTH Republicans and Democrats and even Libertarians. Something that goes beyond moral decline that Republicans talk about. Something that goes beyond widespread gun ownership that Democrats harp on.
But first, what did he say that you expect all politicians to say, even the ones that want to take your guns? "I'm a constitutional absolutist." They ALL say that and then either try to kill the Second Amendment by a death by a thousand cuts or infringements or just deny that it's talking about private ownership or similar nonsense.
But RFKj gave a reason that has to be disappointing to the leftists while offering a different approach to school violence.
First, the disappointment to the left, then the approach to which both gun owners and gun grabbers should pay attention.
RFKj told leftists that the Supreme Court has ruled in "a very expansive interpretation of the right to own a gun." He offered an olive branch by pointing out the death of his father (RFK) and uncle (JFK) by guns, but then said, "I know as president that you're going to expect me and I'm going to do everything I can to reduce gun violence in this country. I think one of the tools that has been taken out of my hands is, is taking away people's guns."
I agree that he doesn't have that power — not because of a Supreme Court decision, but because the Constitution recognizes it as a God-given right and prohibits the government from even infringing on that right.
He goes on to say that "taking people's guns", "I don't think it's the right thing right now because it will just polarize our country." He goes on to say "we're living in a time when the Constitution has been on under attack all the other amendments in an unprecedented way. And how that would be seen by people who believe strongly in the Second Amendment as part of a systematic assault on our Bill of Rights."
Unlike the bellicose idiots, Eric Swalwell, Beto O'Rourke, and Joe Biden, who all threatened, as candidates, to use the military to go to war with gun owners, RFKj de-escalates and doesn't engage in bullying demagoguery.
Then he pivots to something that people of both parties should be interested in but that politicians are not interested in talking about — WHY the school shootings.
After every one of these school shootings I remind people of the murder/suicide pills — SSRI's. I've had several guests on recently to talk about it from SSRIstories.com, and also Kim Witczak, whose husband committed suicide after being prescribed an SSRI because he had difficulty sleeping (you find that interview on podcast here: https://www.spreaker.com/user/14121474/kim-witczak-05-24-2023 and on all our video channels for 24May23)
RFKj stated the obvious that no other politician says —
"I also look very closely at the role of psychiatric drugs in these events. And there are no good studies right now. That that should have been done years ago on this issue, because there's tremendous circumstantial evidence at those like SSRIs. And benzos, and other drugs are doing this. There's something happening in our, in our country right now, that is not happening anywhere else in the world, and has never happened in human history. And you have to look at some of the almost all of these drugs. If you look at our manufacturers inserts, they include a side effect of homicidal and suicidal behavior. And prior to the introduction of Prozac, we had almost no none of these events in our country. And we've never seen them in his human history, where people walk into a school room have children, or strangers and start shooting people. There's other nations that have many guns per cabinet, as we do like Switzerland, which one the last school shooting was 21 years ago, we have one every 21 hours. The one thing that we have, it's different than anybody in the world is the amount of psychiatric drugs our children are taking."
He had more to say on this topic that I'll cover on the 6Jun23 show tomorrow.
